When I take photos of littles, I really like to take the stance of - let them explore. I’d rather babies play, be themselves and naturally warm up to a stranger with a huge lens in their face. While some babies are perfectly calm and okay with being held, can smile on command and remain all sorts of happy for long periods of time, I understand that isn’t the case for all the babies.

Read MoreSeveral weeks back, I met the most wonderful family and I couldn't get enough of them. They were affectionate, full of laughs and so at ease with one another. More often than not, my family sessions are with littles but when I get older kids in the mix, it's always so sweet.
Read MoreI met the absolute sweetest and softest golden retriever pup, Nova, and her parents last weekend. Nova is as soft as she looks and was making me laugh this entire shoot. Her wise eyes would rest for a photo and in a flash, this baby girl was ready to play and give her mama all the kisses. If all my shoots had a puppy in them, I think I’d be juuuuuust fine with it.

The troop got dressed to meet me at my favorite local backdrop, Lincoln Park in West Seattle, to snap some photos.
