When Francesca and Miguel reached out to me, they had only been engaged for 3 days. They had that fresh engagement glow that I wish I could bottle up and keep for all my couples forever and ever. I gave them some options on where we could have our engagement shoot aka when I get to be third wheel on my favorite date ever, and they decided that West Seattle would give them the variety they were looking for: forest, beachy and cityscapes.

I’m sure there are other alternatives but these seem to be the two most common solutions. All that to say, it’s a big decision and one that comes with many painful concessions regardless.

They are both insanely good looking, and so easy to shoot. They would have these quiet moments to themselves where they’d both start cracking up and moments later, they’d be hugging and be so naturally into each other. It’s not often that you meet couples that are affectionate and comfortable with a camera in their face, all at once.

This duo met me for cocktails in Percy and Co (because I’m a sucker for a pisco sour) and we each had a beverage while I snapped some shots inside. Afterwards, we stopped into Salt & Straw and perched down into the sweetest storefront nook, that had twinkle lights strung and a staircase. It was pretty meant to be.

Instead of trucking my equipment into the elements, and asking my couples to do the same, I decided to set up a studio inside my house, with a backdrop and lighting, to give me tons of options for shoots when the weather takes a turn.
